Polka Dots and Halloween!

I love a little change that makes such a big difference don't you?

I knew as soon as we got pregnant that I wanted to have our child's name on their wall in some way. Just loved the idea. With our second I will probably do a monogram of some sort! I just like that identification on EVERYTHING!!

I also knew as soon as we found out it was a girl that I wanted this bedding from Pottery Barn Kids. I don't think they even sell it anymore or I would have linked to it!

Well we talked about doing polka dots around her name, but then she came and we just never got to it until this weekend!!

I was at Target the other day and I found these on sale! I couldn't believe it they matched her bedding perfectly, so I bought them and ended up using them all for this:

I adore how it turned out. The colors of the polka dots match her bedding perfectly! You may remember, or not, that her rug is a perfect match of polka dots also from Target. I have heard that Target tries to match a few things here and there to other places, or it could have been just by luck. Either way I don't care because both the rug and the wall decals worked out perfect!!

I also added a few cute Halloween decorations to Kendall's room this weekend! I love how this little shelf turned out so sweet!

I love this time of year because I love to add new Holiday decorations to our home!

Enjoy your week:)

Mickey on Ice

This past Saturday we got to take Kendall to see Mickey on Ice. I for one was super excited and couldn't wait!! Kendall was excited she just didn't know it yet!!

Last week I made her this cute little tutu and wanted to get some pictures of her before we headed out to the show!! She is such a booger and was so not interested in me taking her picture!! Oh well I got a few good ones.

It was a beautiful day here Saturday and it was perfect to go downtown! Not too hot and not too cold:)

These are my favorite of the pictures that I snapped before we left!

It was bed time and Kendall refused to look at the camera for Daddy to take a picture of us!! That's alright I still love this sweet picture!

I had to take this picture so ya'll could see how long her hair is getting! It's so cute. We have been trimming it every few weeks and it's getting so long! I love it:)

Well, Mickey on Ice was more like Mickey saying hi and introducing Lion King, Little Mermaid, Lilo and Stitch, and Peter Pan! But, it was the cutest thing ever, plus Lion King and Little Mermaid are my two favorite Disney movies!!

This was the end of the Little Mermaid scene and it was so pretty!!

And this sweet girl was in awe almost the entire show!! I thought for sure we would have to get up and leave because she wouldn't make it through the show, but I was so wrong she loved every bit of it and was so funny clapping, dancing and laughing at the doggy from Peter Pan!

In March Disney Princess on Ice is coming to Louisville and we will SO be there!!!

A Twist on Chocloate Chip Cookies

First I must say I can take NO credit for these cookies that you are about to grow 2 inches in the waist by just reading about! I found the recipe for this on the ever most famous PINTEREST. I am so addicted to that place it's scary, but I have made several things that I have pinned so I am very proud of myself:)

OK so who doesn't love a great Chocolate Chip cookie AND who doesn't love a great Double Stuffed Oreo???? Well, why not combine the both and create this.....

The BEST cookie you will probably ever put in your mouth! I. Am. Not. Kidding.

I made them last night for a football party and everyone there was talking about them!

First, let me be really honest with you, they are extremely time consuming and a pain to make, but so worth it:) It takes a lot of flour on your hands to form the cookie around the oreo because the dough is a bit sticky!

I also have to say that I have stocked away the chocolate chip recipe in my favorite recipes because they were by far the best chocolate chip cookies I have ever had. i made a batch of just the cookies themselves! YUM YUM!

And not just because I made them. Chris is very critical about the food I make and he loved them!

You see that Oreo baking in the middle!! YUMMY!!

So, the next time you want a chocolate chip cookie, you must try this recipe and stick in oreo in it as well!! SO YUMMY:)

A Fall/Football Wreath!

I am so excited to share with you my latest project!! I had so much fun making this wreath and it literally took me 15 minutes!! Chris actually had fun watching me make it:)

I made this fall/football wreath to hang above my mantle. I wasn't happy with the look I had going on and I knew I needed to add something a little different to spruce it up! Well, this was perfect!

I am sure that I am not good at taking pictures as I make something so I will try to explain how I made it, but I promise you can do it without any help from me!

1. Buy a bunch of different ribbon! (Or you could do all one color!)
2. Buy a styrofoam wreath/circle
3. Simply wrap your ribbon around your styrofoam until you have it the way you want it. I used push pins to hold mine in place until I was sure it was where I wanted it to be! Then hot glue the pieces down once you have it perfectly the way you want it!
4. Choose one piece of ribbon to be your hanger. Wrap it and tie it at the top! And as Kendall says DUHHH all done!!

Super simple and you can bet I will have one for all seasons now!!

This week is our big in state rival game against UofK! It's a toss up but I sure hope we can beat them!! Go Cards!!!

I have erased and restarted this post over and over again because how do you start a post about a day that everyone in our country is mourning?

I took these pictures of Kendall last year on September 11 and wanted to share them again, because this year it hit me that 9/11 will be any other day to my daughter and many other children out there.

I was talking to a good friend Friday night about how I read to my students September 12 We Knew Everything Would Be Alright, which was written by a group of first graders soon after 9/11 occured. Those students were my students age when this terrible act of terrorism happened to our country.

One of my students raised his hand and said Mrs. Wallace I wasn't born until 3 years AFTER 9/11/01 and I thought oh my he is so right. 9/11 is to them as Pearl Harbor is to me. I don't mean this offensively but I don't have the feelings about Pearl Harbor as I do 9/11 and I'm sure my students and my daughter will never have those feelings about 9/11 as I do.

I didn't live Pearl Harbor.

I lived 9/11.

My students and Kendall didn't live 9/11.

I was a senior in high school when 9/11 occured and a naive senior was I. I had no clue the impact that 9/11 had on so many families. Ok I knew the impact it had, but I didn't know the emotions or the feelings that were felt.

The older I get the more emotional I get on this day every year. I think it's me getting older and having a child and reading about children that never met their fathers and how I can't imagine what their mothers have gone through or even think about Chris not being here with Kendall and I. It makes me cry everytime I even think about it. Not for me but for them. I cry because so many, many people were affected this day in so many ways.

Today I am reminded more than ever to be greatful for the life that I live.

To be proud of the country that I live in.

To love the red, white, and blue with all my heart.

And to thank the millions upon millions that have fought for our country for so long.

And to mourn the loss of millions who have died for our freedom.

I love our country and couldn't be prouder to say in live in the USA today!!

Love This Girl

This sweet girl had a very rough night last Sunday morning. She woke me up at about 1:15AM and wasn't interested in getting back in her bed. I brought her to my bed which we NEVER do, but it was my only option once I knew she wasn't going to sleep. I let her fall back in sleep with me and then put her back in her own bed at about 2:45. She stayed asleep and I was relieved until....

4:00AM came and she started screaming again! Let me remind you that Kendall is a GOOD sleeper. At about 4 months I started putting her to bed on her own and she has gone to sleep and slept through the night since then. But, does have a moment every few months.

Well when she woke up at 4:00AM she was screaming like she was in awful pain so I brought her back to our room. She fell back asleep and I tried to put her in her bed again at 5:00AM and as soon as I laid her down she woke up screaming again. So, back to my room we went until 7:00AM when she was awake for the day:)

We are pretty convinced that she has a LOT of teeth trying to come in all at once. I know this to be true now because tonight when I was tickling her I could see two teeth opposite of each other in the middle back of her gums at the top. They have barely made their way through but they are coming! And thank goodness for that.

These teeth have sure been a pain for my poor baby, and I will be so glad when they all make their way through!

And even though she kept us up all night we still love her too pieces and couldn't imagine a day without this sweet thing!!

AND I feel for EVERY SINGLE one of you mothers who have a child that doesn't sleep. I can't imagine, because me I need my sleep and I need it bad! I have always been a sleeper and Kendall rocked my world last weekend haha!

I think God knew that I needed my sleep. Either that or was just tricking me into thinking babyhood isn't so bad until my next one:)

Either way I still love her too death and can't believe how stinkin' big she is!!

Hope you are enjoying your weeked!

Football Mantle!!

Are ya'll as excited as we are about the fall weather coming up!!??

I couldn't wait to do my fall/football mantle and I had so much doing this mantle!

This was a gift from a friend that owns a sweet little boutique in Louisville called Chick A D's! The platter was even featured in our local newspaper!

It's so hard to take a full shot of a mantle with a mirror behind it because you can see my lovely fan in it! Oh well I did the best I could:)

I fell in love with this at Hobby Lobby a few weeks back. It was pricey so I waited patiently for it to go on sale and it finally did today so guess where I was first thing this morning!!??

This is the first time I have ever worked with deco mesh and I had fun with it. I see lots more of it in my near future!!

My candles look crooked even though they really aren't!

I am linking up today for Metamorphosis Monday at Between Naps On the Porch

Hope your enjoying your week!!
